DIRECTOR OF English language LANGUAGE ARTS & SOCIAL STUDIES ASSESSMENTS

Full general DESCRIPTION
Under general direction, oversee the evolution and implementation of the English Language Arts (ELA) and U.S. History state assessments included in the Oklahoma Schoolhouse Testing Program (OSTP) and develop trainings for statewide assessment literacy needs.  Oversee the Driven-to-Read initiative, updating documents every bit needed and providing communications to districts, parents, and approved testing sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Principal's degree;
• iii plus years' experience teaching English Language Arts at the Grand-12 level;

Cognition/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Stiff knowledge of standardized, large-scale assessments;
• Thorough understanding of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for English Linguistic communication Arts and U.South. History;
• Knowledge of land and federal school laws, rules and regulations equally they pertain to student assessment;
• Ability to found and maintain satisfactory and constructive working relationships with young man employees, school officials, public schoolhouse administrators, and the general public; to conduct in-services with teachers and schoolhouse administrators; to limited facts and opinions clearly and concisely; to accommodate to an automated work environment;
• Applicants must be willing and able to perform necessary chore-related travel;
• Noesis and experience with computer-based classroom assessments;
• Conscientious commitment and willingness to provide courteous, consequent, efficient service through the performance of the prescribed job duties.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
• Review, revise and approve test items and passages for quality and alignment according to test and item specifications for ELA & Social Studies/History state assessments
• Assistance edit and restructure examination manuals equally needed
• Coordinate and facilitate teacher committees for data review, item reviews, and standard settings
• Interact with content leads from contracted vendors on construction of tests and other ancillary test documents
• Review and revise test and item specification documents and test blueprints for state assessments
• Develop instructional and advisory materials to use as handouts in conducting in-services and consulting with school faculties
• Review and revise parent, pupil, and teacher guides for ELA & U.S. History assessments equally well as online practice tests.
• Interact with Office of Teaching & Curriculum regarding standards, blueprints, performance level descriptors, content standards, items review, and consortiums
• Consult with school faculties to decide the methods past which teachers and administrators tin can translate test scores and use the data to improve instructional programs
• Team with other State Department of Pedagogy employees to integrate assessment and curriculum and provide services to schools and teachers
• Review, revise, and approve writing prompts for writing assessments and maintain writing rubrics
• Review, gear up, and approve anchor papers, training papers, and qualifying sets for scoring writing assessments
• Coordinate and facilitate the Not-Standard Accommodations committee and communicate committee decisions to districts
